About us Our history
ITA | ENG
The first time I met an Afghan was in 1989 when, at the age of 12, I came across Fulvio & Simona D’Andrea, owners of the kennel “Kouros”. I was totally fascinated by this breed, so I started collecting all infos about it and started going to Shows and Breed Specialties.
I bought my first Afghan Puppy from Kouros, seven years later. She was the Black/Tan bitch, Ch Kouros My Way, with whom I started to attend shows often.
“Greta” became Junior Club Champion in 1997. Later, she became Italian & International Champion, making me so proud and satisfied.
I will never change my mind about Afghans Hounds; I have been and am still bewitched by their eyes and ways of doing. Over the years, their family has expanded and has achieved many successes at all levels; from personal life with dogs, happy and satisfied owners, and incredible and unexpected victories in the rings and on the lure coursing fields.
My goal remains that of selecting an authentic and moderate Afghan Hound who reflects its ancient virtues, both morphologically and temperamentally.
An Afghan who can give his owners all the satisfaction that mine gave to me and even more. My hounds share their lives with my family and accompany us in our daily activities (sports, holidays, free time, and siestas!); they have large areas available to run and relax and are naturally and healthily fed and, in general, I am lucky enough to be able to say that this allows them to have a long and happy life.
From 1996 till today, Way Up has achieved many successes in Italy and abroad, both in beauty shows and work trials. Morphological beauty is strictly connected to the dog’s functionality, health, and mental well-being which is why the successes obtained in zootechnical tests are of utmost importance and synonymous with quality.
Italian and International Champions, World Winners, the first and only (at the moment) UK Champion in the breed bred and owned in Italy. Stud, Veteran, and Junior Champions in different countries, Club Champions, and Top Afghans in Italy. Best Afghan kennel in the country since 2010. The first two dual champions (beauty and performance) proclaimed in Italy. American, Korean, Finnish, Swedish, Danish, Swiss, French, Croatian, Slovenian, Austrian, Greek, and German Champions. Winners in some of the largest Sighthound shows in Europe such as the Donaueschingen Sighthound festival, Skocloster, Nationale D’elevage Falapa. Reserve Winner bitch and Awards of Merit at the USA National, Best of Breed at Crufts 2015, winners of several CC and RCC and Junior Warrants in the UK. These are just some of the results that make me proud of my dogs, and hopefully, more and more will come thanks to dedication and passion for a well-set work.
Our dogs live with the family, socializing with people and children; they have huge green fields to run, but also comfortable couches to relax on. They’re on a healthy, balanced diet that suits their needs.  Every day they go for long walks to keep fit and healthy.  In fact, in my opinion, success also depends on the dog’s mental and physical wellbeing, and this is known to be proven.
The job of selection goes through illusions, disappointments, glory and defeats. But what satisfacts the most is to know we’ve done a good job. That’s why my motto is:

“The feeling that derives from a well dealt competition is more important than any medal”
(Berthalan De Nemethy).
